After being refused access to the Wi-Fi password, 17-year-old Zaccur Garrett waved a gun at Chipotle employees, which resulted in several charges. Police say a 17-year-old is facing several counts after he allegedly brandished a gun at fast food employees at a Chipotle in metro Atlanta after being refused Wi-Fi.
Zaccur Garrett lost his temper on Saturday afternoon when staff at the Chipotle restaurant on South Cobb Drive wouldn’t provide him the Wi-Fi password.
Investigators said that Garrett drew a gun and aimed it at drive-thru employees. Cobb County Police Officer Aaron Wilson stated, “The suspect chose to escalate the situation and brandish a firearm and point it at employees.”
Police issue statement on Zaccur Garrett’s arrest
Garrett was discovered by responding officers outside a hotel across the street. He had already thrown the rifle in a nearby garbage can, according to the police.
Wilson stated: “The suspect decided to escalate the situation and brandish a firearm and pointed it at employees,” “This guy likely knew police were on the way and discarded it because he knew he wasn’t supposed to have it. The firearm came back stolen out of Atlanta,”
“The suspect swung at the officer, striking him, causing minor injuries,” “He has several charges including three outstanding warrants from another county for violent offenses. In Cobb County, he’s facing six charges,” “While something seems so minor like being denied access to Wi-Fi, this suspect took it to extreme levels,”
As a result, a police officer was charged with aggravated assault. Garrett was charged with interference with government property after he allegedly kicked and destroyed a camera inside the patrol cruiser on the route to jail. According to the authorities, it all began when a request for a Wi-Fi password was turned down.
