After his rise to fame, Cooper Flagg, the 2025 NBA Draft’s first overall choice, has already stepped into numerous brand possibilities, seemingly setting the league on fire. However, Flagg hasn’t become used to this way of life yet. Since his family never had a sizable sum of money for him to spend while he was growing up, his mother is actively trying to keep him grounded.
Since being selected, the Dallas Mavericks player has inked two contracts: one worth $13 million with New Balance and another worth $28 million with Fanatics. When he establishes himself in the NBA, that will only increase.
Ultimately, though, Flagg is still just eighteen years old. Even while he recognizes the value of financial knowledge, he still has personal preferences. In an interview with Chime, Flagg disclosed: “I’m not a big spender,” “I’m excited to get my own vehicle.”
Kelly, Flagg’s mother, immediately interrupted the discussion to inform Cooper that his spending is restricted. Kelly essentially ordered:
“Do not buy a Bugatti right away,”
Bugattis are very costly. One of the most well-liked models among athletes, the Chiron model, costs between $3 million and $4 million. Even though Cooper will make $62 million over four years from his rookie scale contract, it’s hardly the most sensible choice to spend that much money on a car. Kelly set a high bar for Cooper to meet when it came to his first vehicle.
