The Chicago Sky lost to the Washington Mystics 103-86 in a memorable game that left Angel Reese with conflicting emotions.
On the one hand, the 23-year-old star and her club lost for the sixth time in a row, falling to 7-19 and 12th in the WNBA rankings. But it was more than simply a game to the Chicago forward.
In terms of her own accomplishments, the two-time All-Star had her ideal comeback, even though it did not translate into the team’s outcome. Reese, who had missed two games because of a back issue, had a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C.
Sadly, Tyler Marsh’s side lost the match due to Sonia Citron’s 28 points and Kiki Iriafen’s 22 points. Angel was not deterred, though, since for the first time since she joined the WNBA, her grandma, a treasured supporter, was watching her. Reese posted a picture of herself getting a cheek kiss on her official Instagram account.
The sky forward started, accompanied by a face suppressing tears and a double heart emoji: “My whole entire heart,”
“The first WNBA game my grandma has ever seen me play,”
The forward is still sporting her white headband and squad outfit in the picture. In the meantime, her grandma, who oddly matched her blue glasses, was wearing a black Chicago team T-shirt over a blouse with stripes of white and light blue. She accessorized her ensemble with gold earrings as well.
