A new stage of negotiations has begun between the Dallas Cowboys and their outstanding defensive end, Micah Parsons. With the long-term deal on the table, Parsons has made it very evident to the team’s owner, Jerry Jones, and management that he is not going to compromise on his unquestionable value. The rising sensation made it obvious where he stood by telling Pennlive quite bluntly:
“I’m just going to get mine, no matter what.”
Time is not on the Cowboys’ side, even though they are not in a rush to finalize the agreement because Parsons is about to enter the fifth year of his rookie contract.
The organization will have to spend more the longer they wait to sign one of the NFL’s top players. According to projections made by prominent league analysts like ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Parsons’ potential contract would be worth over $40 million annually, making him the highest-paid defensive player in history if it were to be signed.
Parsons has good reason to be confident. He has an outstanding record to support it, having just been in the league for four years. He has received three All-Pro selections and four Pro Bowl selections. He has shown himself to be an unstoppable force with 112 quarterback hits, 63 tackles for loss, and 52.5 sacks in 63 games.
