Tuesday night’s WNBA Commissioner’s Cup final saw the Indiana Fever pull off an exciting upset victory over the league-leading Minnesota Lynx.
Since the Fever were without Caitlin Clark for the third consecutive game because of a groin injury, it was unquestionably a decisive team victory. In the 74-59 triumph, five Fever players ended with ten or more points, and veteran Natasha Howard was voted the game’s MVP for her impressive double-double (16 points, 12 rebounds).
Despite Clark’s absence from the court, the Fever made every effort to capitalize on her spirit of competition during the championship game. To demonstrate their support and solidarity for the wounded player, the Fever coaches went a step further and showed up at Target Center wearing Clark’s iconic shoes, the sold-out Kobe 5 Protro PEs.
During the game, Stephanie White, the coach of the Fever, and her helpers were observed wearing Clark’s shoes. The coaches’ shoes were then proudly displayed as the team took their title photos:

What a kind thing to do for Clark. Although her team didn’t appear to need her much in Tuesday’s victory over the Lynx, the Fever’s second-year guard has now missed eight games this WNBA season due to injuries. Clark and the Fever (8-8) will next play the Las Vegas Aces at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in the regular season.
