Antonio Morrow Discusses Stephen Curry’s Unrivaled Work Ethic

Shooting and scoring goals isn’t something Stephen Curry, the man who revolutionized basketball, does by accident. It took years of dedication and hundreds of thousands of shots in an empty gym for him to develop into the three-point guru he is today. According to former NBA player Anthony Morrow, Curry has always had a unique work ethic.

When Curry was chosen seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2009 NBA Draft, he was considered a risky choice. Scouts believed he lacked the physical skill necessary to succeed in the NBA and shot the ball poorly.

Admittedly, things were extremely different in the league back then. Championship teams were thought to be propelled by big guys, and teams were making every effort to acquire one.

With Curry, however, Morrow could see the writing on the wall. Why? since he was given a sneak peek at what was coming. In fact, the nine-year NBA veteran and shooter had played with Steph in Charlotte as a child.

Anthony Morrow gives a Steph Curry story: "We had our Pro-Am… … In the 1st half, you know guys, you know they tried to beat up on him, and pick him a full court, and make him turn the ball over, and he kinda played conservative. And I don't know what happened in the 2nd half, but he had like 60"

Morrow stated on Natalie Bode’s Stories Untold. In addition, the former Warrior and Curry were teammates in a Pro-Am league:

“I grew up with him, you know, he’s from Charlotte as well. Our high schools were rivals. Then, we actually played together. We used to work out all summer,” “I saw what he was doing. It was different than what any other guard was doing. They were trying to say it’s not going to work in the NBA,”

“His work ethic, I don’t think people understand. His routine, his regimen, how he approached the game was crazy,”

“I was like, ‘We need to draft Steph.’ And a lot of people, I ain’t going to say no names, they know who they are, they were like, ‘Steph Curry is ending up overseas.’ I was like, nah.”
