Despite having a strong preseason debut in the Browns’ game against the Panthers on Friday, Shedeur Sanders was conspicuously absent from Cleveland’s practice on Wednesday.
The first day of the Browns’ joint practices with the Eagles began with Sanders wearing his uniform, but he did not take part in team drills. During that portion of practice, he was the only quarterback to skip reps.
According to Zac Jackson of The Athletic, the Browns provided a reason for why Sanders was not allowed to participate in team drills, stating that he suffered an oblique injury early in practice and was thus sidelined for the rest of the session.

Sanders may not be able to play in Cleveland’s preseason game this weekend due to his injury, however the team plans to assess its severity. On Saturday, the Browns are set to play the Eagles.
Sanders’ next opportunity to make an impact before the regular season begins is against the Rams on August 23, which is the final week of preseason play, if he is unable to suit up.
