Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just declared August 1st as ‘Hulk Hogan Day’ to honor the late WWE legend.
How cool is that? Hulk Hogan was an icon in the wrestling world, and it’s awesome that he’s getting recognized like this.
The WWE icon died at the age of 71 last week, after suffering fatal cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida – with tributes quickly pouring in for the wrestling star.
Now, DeSantis – who had a strong relationship with Hogan – has offered his own tribute and insisted that there will be a day to celebrate the WWE icon.
DeSantis said: ‘On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Florida resident and legendary professional wrestler Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan, passed away.
‘His larger-than-life personality will be missed, as the ‘Hulkster’ was an icon for many who grew up in the 80s and 90s as well as today. He was a true Floridian through and through.
‘In honor of a great Floridian, Hulk Hogan, we are lowering the flags at the capitol and in Pinellas County tomorrow.
‘Additionally, I am officially declaring tomorrow, August 1st, 2025, as ‘Hulk Hogan Day’ in Florida. Rest in peace, brother’.
The passing of the WWE superstar was felt across the country, with tributes from those within the sport – and outside of it – flooding in.
