LeBron James Is Praised by Kendrick Perkins for Proposing a $5 Billion League

Without a question, the NBA is the largest basketball league in the world. But how long can it maintain that standing when LeBron James‘ presence dominates the news and there are whispers of a new international tournament worth billions? Kendrick Perkins, for one, is eager to watch how it plays out because it has the potential to revolutionize the sport.

This unidentified international league is gaining some traction. Perkins thinks it might compete with the NBA, and James and his longtime business partner, Maverick Carter, are leading the charge to bring it together.

LeBron even had a meeting with Misko Raznatovic, the agent of three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, earlier in the summer. LeBron was initially believed to be teasing a move to the Denver Nuggets, but it eventually became apparent that they were finalizing the specifics to make a $5 billion league plan a reality.

Kendrick Perkins talks about LeBron James’s proposal of a new league

On the most recent episode of his Road Trippin podcast, Perkins couldn’t help but feel enthusiastic since there is undoubtedly something significant going on behind the scenes.

As a former NBA champion, Perkins is aware that basketball is not exclusive to the US. Perkins asked: “That’s another side of it. The competition. It’s not just in America anymore. We don’t know the system and what they’re doing over there in Africa, right?”

He then praised the King for growing the market, highlighting players like LeBron and Warriors great Steph Curry for their appeal on a global scale. He said: “I think it’s great for all these leagues. I applaud Bron and Mav for even coming up with the idea. I do believe there’s a lot of hoopers out there that won’t make it to the NBA but need other outlets to go and play in and make a good living. For them to start that league, the tour league, or whatever, that’s a great deal,”
