In recent years, the Chicago Sky haven’t demonstrated enough to be regarded as a successful WNBA team. Angel Reese, a celebrity, wants to change that.

Although she has set several amazing rebounding marks in her second season in Chicago, Reese has been unable to transfer her off-the-glass effectiveness into team victories. Reese talked candidly about what she wants to see from the front staff to turn things around, as the Sky (9-30) are expected to miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

Reese told Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune: “I’m not settling for the same s— we did this year,”
“We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me. … I think the priority is being able to convince [free agents] that this is an organization that is going in the right direction.”
Since Reese was selected by the Sky in the 2024 NBA Draft, the team has struggled to assemble a winning or even competitive roster and sacked first-year coach Teresa Witherspoon, with whom Reese was allegedly very close. The team hasn’t been able to entice many well-known players to move to Chicago in recent years; Emma Meesseman was their most recent significant free agency acquisition in 2022.
