During the recent Bears-Vikings game, Caleb Williams totally stole the show. Not because of some crazy touchdown or anything, but because he used his moment in the spotlight to honor suicide prevention. How cool is that?!
Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams painted his nails to honor suicide prevention. The image appears to have been taken during warmups before the Bears-Vikings helmet clash in Week 1 of the NFL. He painted his nails with the colors and logo of the cause, along with “988”, the number for the suicide and crisis hotline.
The Bears entered this new season after a poor performance in the previous NFL season, where they finished their campaign with a record of five wins and 12 losses. However, Chicago’s preseason was quite good, where they managed to record a 24-point tie against the Dolphins and victories against the Bills and Chiefs.
Last season as a rookie, Williams completed 62.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while also rushing for 489 yards on 81 attempts. Those numbers warranted much more patience than fans gave him after some videos at camp.
It will be interesting to see what the 2025 season has in store for Williams. At least for tonight, he silenced his critics with a very dominant performance in his sophomore preseason debut. However, his debut didn’t go as expected, as the Bears fell at home to the Vikings.
It’s awesome to see someone like Caleb using his moment in the spotlight to make a difference. Who knows, maybe his actions will inspire others to do the same. Kudos to Caleb Williams for shining a light on such an important issue during the game!
