Thanks to Jason Myers’ clutch game-winning 52-yard field goal on the final play, the Seahawks escaped Arizona with a tight 23-20 victory, avoiding a humiliating fourth-quarter collapse.
Myers missed a 53-yard field goal that would have iced the game with three minutes left. Kyler Murray drove Arizona down the field and found Emari Demercado for the game-tying touchdown, but the Cardinals left too much time for Sam Darnold and the offense.
It took Seattle just three plays to set up Jason Myers’ 52-yard attempt to win the game. And before the field goal, Myers basically warned Arizona it was game over by pulling out the smelling salts.
So, next time you see a kicker do something odd before a kick—don’t think it’s nothing! It could be a banned substance giving him advantage over other players.
