For Shedeur Sanders, the weekend was difficult. The Colorado product and his camp reportedly told the Baltimore Ravens not to take him in the fifth round with the 141st overall pick, according to a shocking story that ESPN’s Adam Schefter released on Saturday. Schefter claims that after hearing from Sanders, who was later taken by the Browns, they decided against the pick even though they had the draft card ready.
Then, fellow Cleveland rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel was the one to get in for some garbage-time reps during Sunday’s humiliating 41-17 loss to those same Ravens.
While Sanders watched from the sidelines, he even tossed his first-ever NFL touchdown and finished 3-for-3 for 19 yards overall. For the Prime family, that is not the best course of action. The Sanders report has also received a great deal of public criticism, as was to be expected.
He said: “Cam Newton can be absolutely right that Baltimore is the better situation [for Shedeur]. Yet none of us can look at Shedeur Sanders and find extreme fault with his position,”
“Lamar Jackson, let’s not talk about him like he’s a quarterback and stop there. He’s a superstar… And he’s 28. He’s not going anywhere. Anytime soon. When you take a job as a backup QB in Baltimore. Barring injury, you assume you’re gonna be holding the clipboard… but you’re almost never going to play,”
Social media and sports media will always seize any opportunity to jump on this child’s back. However, Cam Newton, who is often an outspoken advocate for the Sanders family, wasn’t making a big deal out of it. Nonetheless, he believed that Sanders erred in not landing in Baltimore. Stephen A. Smith, meantime, was fully aware of Sanders’s perspective.
