The audacity! So on “ManningCast,” former QB Eli Manning dropped a bomb claiming Jaguars head coach Liam Coen told him Travis Hunter practiced zero with the offense at Colorado.
And Deion Sanders stormed in with receipts and trashed Eli’s claim calling it a lie!
During the Week 5 “ManningCast” broadcast of the Jacksonville Jaguars-Kansas City Chiefs matchup on “Monday Night Football,” Manning and his brother Peyton were asked by guest Glenn Powell how they would coach Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter, given his desire to play both offense and defense.
“I talked to (Jaguars head coach) Liam Coen, they said when he was at Colorado, he practiced zero with the offense,” Manning stated. “He only practiced defense. They had a special system where they the coach would just signal the formation to him and then signal the route to him.
“So like he just improvised, just went out there and winged it as a receiver. So, he’s still learning right now how to be a receiver.”
Coen’s comments made its way back to the Sanders’ family, and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders didn’t hesitate to set the record straight about Hunter’s practice habits in Boulder while putting Coen on blast.
“That was a lie,” Deion said. “Travis Hunter played offense and defense — we started out with the 1s on offense going first for four or five reps, then he went over and played defense the next four or five reps, and he did it the whole practice.
“You know we have Well Off Media (filming practices)? Like, come on man. I don’t know why [Coen would lie]. You know, Troy (Aikman) called me before the game, and he got that information…he had the same misinformation, then I gave him the truth. I don’t know why people lie.”
So who’s telling the truth? Deion, who’s got video, public footage, and years of hype backing him or Manning, who’s got Liam Coen whispering in his ears?
