Patrick Mahomes officially topped quarterback legends Eli and Peyton Manning in the number of rings won after winning his third Super Bowl total this year and his second in a row. Eli Manning was rather arrogant when he brought up the Chiefs quarterback’s lack of one ring.
The New York Giants icon, though in a different sport, has the advantage over Patrick Mahomes in terms of title rings. By showcasing his newest piece of jewelry, a championship ring from his NWSL team Gotham FC, Manning gently made fun of the 28-year-old QB.
Manning has a small ownership stake in Gotham FC, Patrick Mahomes’ rival team. While Mahome became a co-owner of his hometown NWSL team in 2023, Manning joined Gotham in 2022. Manning made fun of Mahomes in a social media comment, saying:
“Hey Mahomes, you may have one more of these [Super Bowl rings] than me, but do you have one of these?” Manning said, holding up his Gotham FC ring. “I don’t think so. See you at the home opener.”
After a close 2-1 victory over the OL Reign (now Seattle Reign) in the NWSL Championship last November, Gotham won its first-ever NWSL championship. There is still no ring for Mahomes’ KC Current. But the match between the two teams is scheduled for April 14th, and it promises to be quite the spectacle.
