Ohio State is Still Dominating The Latest CFP Rankings

In the most recent College Football Playoff rankings, which were revealed on Tuesday, Ohio State, Indiana, and Texas A&M retained the top three teams, while Alabama fell six positions to No. 10 following its defeat to Oklahoma.

Despite having more top-25 wins (four) than the Irish (one), the Crimson Tide are currently below No. 9 Notre Dame. Georgia, whom Alabama defeated in September, rose to No. 4, Texas Tech to No. 5, Ole Miss to No. 6, Oregon to No. 7, and Oklahoma, up three spots to No. 8 following its 23-21 victory in Tuscaloosa.

BYU comes in at number eleven, followed by Utah at number twelve, Miami at number thirteen, Vanderbilt at number fourteen, and USC at number fifteen. After defeating NC State 41-7, the Hurricanes moved up two rankings, although they are still four slots behind Notre Dame, a major rival to Miami and the ACC. Miami defeated Notre Dame 27-24 to start the season, but both teams have identical 8-2 records.

When asked earlier this week how head-to-head matches should be evaluated in CFP resume comparisons, Miami coach Mario Cristobal responded as follows:

“The No. 1 criteria is always head-to-head. It’s why we play the game, right? That always has been and always will be the No. 1 factor.”

Notre Dame lost tight games to two ranked opponents, which is the main difference between the two teams.
