In Monday night’s Spurs away victory over the Bulls, Victor Wembanyama put on a display. Two of the star center’s six threes came late in the fourth quarter.
When Wemby pulled up from beyond the arc and made a three-pointer to tie the game, San Antonio was behind 114–111. The 7’5″ Frenchman called for an iso at the logo on the Spurs’ subsequent possession before focusing on his defender. He pulled up and made his second straight clutch three after shaking off Nikola Vuňvić with a wicked crossover.
It is just unheard of for a player of Wembanyama’s caliber to shoot like that.
San Antonio managed to hold on and win the game on the road after making it 117–114. Wembanyama had an incredible evening, scoring 38 points on 11-of-19 shooting, including 6-of-9 three-pointers, to lead the game. Twelve rebounds, five assists, five blocks, and a steal were all added by him.
Wemby had been having some difficulties at the beginning of November, but he made a huge comeback on Monday night, helping the Spurs win for the third time in a row.
