Criminal Complaint Registered Against Texas A&M Gameday Cop

Oscar Adaway, the other South Carolina football player who was contacted by a game-day police officer on November 15 during a 31-30 loss at Texas A&M, requests an apology.

The Texas state trooper who touched Adaway and receiver Nyck Harbor during the game was sent home right away after Adaway filed a criminal complaint against the trooper. At that time, the Texas Department of Public Safety promised to look into the matter further.

Adaway hired legal counsel. Adaway wants to file assault charges against the trooper, according to her lawyer, B. Keith Jackson, who spoke with The Washington Post. After hearing the claim, the Brazos County district attorney is debating whether to press charges. According to the statement:

“The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is aware of the incident that occurred today during the Texas A&M football game,”

“The DPS Trooper involved was sent home from the game. Our Office of Inspector General (OIG) is also aware of the incident and will be further looking into the matter. No additional information will be released at this time.”

Adaway filed a criminal complaint against the Texas state trooper on Thursday night, according to The Post and Courier. According to his lawyer, Adaway wishes to file assault charges. That claim is being considered by the Brazos County district.
