Robert Littal Speaks To Chris Algieri About The Pitbull Cruz vs. Lamont Roach Jr Fight

With the highly anticipated showdown between Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Lamont Roach Jr. set to ignite the Frost Bank Center this Saturday, former WBO Junior Welterweight Champion Chris Algieri sat down with BlackSportsOnline’s Robert Littal to break down the clash of styles.

Algieri, who will be serving as a key analyst and co-host for the exclusive viewer chat on PPV.com, offered a detailed assessment of the main event, which features Cruz defending his WBA Super Lightweight title against the slick, technical boxing of Roach.

“It is the classic bull versus the matador,” Algieri told Littal during the interview. “You have Pitbull, who is going to come forward with that pressure, looking to break you down. And then you have Lamont Roach, who has that East Coast, slick, fast-twitch style.”

For Algieri, the fight hinges on whether Roach can earn Cruz’s respect early in the contest.

“Roach has to give him a reason to hesitate,” Algieri explained. “If he lets Cruz get into a rhythm and just walk him down, it’s going to be a long night. But if Lamont can use his feet, turn him, and land that check hook, he can make it very difficult for Pitbull.”

In addition to his fight analysis, Algieri discussed his role for the upcoming broadcast on PPV.com. Unlike traditional pay-per-view experiences, Algieri will be hosting a live, interactive chat with viewers throughout the event, offering real-time scoring, analysis, and answering fan questions directly during the fights.

“It’s a unique way to watch the fight,” Algieri noted. “I’m there with the fans, breaking it down round-by-round, and we really get into the weeds of what is happening in the ring.”
