Mugshot: Sherrone Moore Arrested for Assault After Paige Shiver Affair Exposed

Former Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore was arrested and booked into the Washtenaw County Jail late Wednesday, just hours after the university fired him for cause citing an “inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”

Pittsfield Township Police confirmed they are investigating an “alleged assault” involving the 39-year-old coach.

Moore was taken into custody around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and lodged in the county jail pending a review of potential charges by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office. According to a statement from the Pittsfield Charter Township Department of Public Safety, officers responded to a residence at approximately 4:10 p.m. — roughly the same time news of Moore’s termination broke — to investigate a report of an assault.

“This incident does not appear to be random in nature, and there appears to be no ongoing threat to the community,” the department said in a release, which did not name the victim.

The arrest capped a chaotic day for the Wolverines program, which began with the university announcing Moore’s immediate termination. Athletic Director Warde Manuel stated that an internal investigation had uncovered “credible evidence” of misconduct.

“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” Manuel said in a statement. “Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”

Social media reports have identified Moore’s assistant, Paige Shiver, as the woman he was having an inappropriate relationship with.

Moore had just completed his second full season leading the Wolverines, compiling a 17-8 record. He was instrumental in the program’s run to the 2023 National Championship, serving as offensive coordinator and acting head coach for four games during Jim Harbaugh’s suspensions.

The university named Biff Poggi as interim head coach effective immediately. The Wolverines (9-3) are scheduled to play No. 14 Texas in the Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31.

This is a developing story.
