Gervonta “Tank” Davis is Missing; Warrant Issued For His Arrest

Law enforcement and civil attorneys are struggling to locate boxing star Gervonta “Tank” Davis following the issuance of an arrest warrant involving allegations of domestic violence and kidnapping via Boxing Scene.

Richard Wolfe, a civil attorney representing a woman who has sued Davis for an alleged October assault, told BoxingScene that a process server has made six unsuccessful attempts to find the former three-division champion at his residence.

The search intensified last week after Miami Gardens police issued a criminal arrest warrant for Davis, 31, on charges of battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping.

“We have no idea where he is,” Wolfe said, noting that he has filed a motion for “service by publication”—a legal workaround used when a defendant is believed to be intentionally evading service.

The legal turmoil has already derailed Davis’ career in the ring. The World Boxing Association (WBA) recently designated Davis as a “champion in recess,” effectively stripping him of his lightweight world title to allow other contenders to compete for the belt.

The criminal charges stem from an incident in October where Davis allegedly confronted a woman at her place of work, forced her toward a parking garage, and attempted to drive her away against her will before she managed to escape.

Davis has not been seen in public since a controversial March 1 draw against Lamont Roach Jr. The fallout from the warrant has resulted in the cancellation of a high-profile rematch with Roach, as well as a planned exhibition bout against influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

While the civil lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $50,000, the immediate focus remains on Davis’ whereabouts.

“We are certain we will obtain service of process when Mr. Davis has been arrested,” Wolfe said.

Representatives for Davis have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the warrant or his current location. This is not the first time the Baltimore native has faced legal scrutiny; Davis has a history of legal issues, including a 2020 hit-and-run case that resulted in a short period of home confinement and subsequent jail time for violating the terms of that sentence.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Davis remains at large.
