Ryan Wedding, a Former Olympian and Drug Dealer Detained in Mexico

After being on the run for more than a year, Ryan Wedding, a Canadian Olympic snowboarder who is now accused of being an international drug lord, has been taken into custody.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation listed Wedding as one of its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives ten months prior to his apprehension. Wedding was wanted for allegedly killing a federal witness and running the drug enterprise.

FBI Director Kash Patel praised Mexican officials for their involvement in the case and stated that the arrest was the outcome of international cooperation.

According to Patel:

“When you go after a guy like Ryan Wedding, it takes a united front, and that’s what you’re seeing here,”

A Canadian national handed himself in at the U.S. consulate, according to a post made by Mexico’s Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch on the social media site X.

Wedding, who was formally accused of operating a drug ring in 2024, was apprehended after a protracted search. Semitrucks were allegedly utilized in the scheme to transport cocaine between Canada, Mexico, Colombia, and Southern California.
