According to a report on Thursday by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Miami will appoint Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman as an adviser on the search committee. The Dolphins fired Chris Grier on October 31 and will be looking for a new general manager this summer.
It’s crucial to remember that Aikman’s position is temporary. He will continue to work as an ESPN broadcaster, including this Saturday during the Seahawks vs. 49ers game. On Monday Night Football, he and Joe Buck serve as the network’s primary analysts.
Aikman’s assistance with the Dolphins’ general manager search won’t affect his work as a broadcaster because it’s not a full-time position.
According to Schefter, Miami sought “an outside respected perspective from someone who had strong relationships across the league,” and Aikman seemed to be the solution. During his twelve seasons with the Cowboys, Aikman won three Super Bowl championships. Additionally, because he covers every NFL team in his capacity as a broadcaster, he has extensive knowledge of the league’s current situation. His expertise will be useful in the Dolphins’ search for a new general manager.
On Sunday, the Dolphins will play the Patriots.
