Vikings Jordan Addison Casino Arrest Could Cost Him $17.5 Million

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested early Monday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, Florida, and charged with a first-degree misdemeanor of trespassing in an occupied structure or conveyance, according to arrest records.

Police took the 23-year-old into custody at about 3:46 a.m. and he was booked later that morning. Addison posted a $500 cash bond and was released in the afternoon, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Details about what led to the trespassing charge have not been made public. Addison’s legal team has said it is reviewing the circumstances of the arrest and has not ruled out pursuing a claim of a false arrest.

One could surmise that Addison didn’t leave the premises or wasn’t capable if he was incapacitated in some way.

This is the latest in a series of off-field incidents for Addison since he was drafted No. 23 overall by the Vikings in 2023. His past legal issues include a 2024 DUI-related arrest near Los Angeles, for which he pleaded no contest to a lesser charge, paid a fine and completed court-ordered requirements, and a 2023 speeding citation in Minnesota. The DUI-related matter led to a three-game suspension to start the 2025 season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

The timing of the arrest could have financial implications. Minnesota has until May 1 to decide whether to exercise Addison’s fifth-year option on his rookie contract — a decision that would guarantee roughly $17.5 million for the 2027 season.

Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah acknowledged Addison’s talent and contributions but indicated that off-field behavior will be part of the team’s evaluation. “Obviously, that’s something we have to consider when you’re talking about long-term ramifications of a contract extension,” he said.

Coach Kevin O’Connell said the organization is still gathering facts and would not comment in detail on the matter.

Addison’s on-field production last season included 610 receiving yards and three touchdowns, down from his earlier years. The potential financial loss, combined with reputational concerns, puts added focus on a player who has shown both promise and unpredictability since entering the league.
