Cam Newton has once again thrown a pass that nobody asked for, but everybody is now forced to catch.
This time, it’s not about football, it’s about friendship. Specifically, Cam says it’s impossible for men to have female friends without wanting to have relations with them. Yes, impossible. According to Cam, the friend zone does not exist. It’s just a waiting room.
The internet reacted exactly how you’d expect. Loud, confused, slightly amused and very ready to argue.
Cam explained his take with full confidence. The same confidence he used to run over linebackers in his prime. In his world, if a man is friends with a woman, there is always “something there.” Always. No exceptions, not even the “she’s like a sister” excuse. Cam basically said, “Sir, stop lying.”
Some people nodded along like, “Yeah, he might be onto something.” Others rolled their eyes so hard they saw last week. Women everywhere suddenly realized half their male friends might be secretly auditioning for a different role.

At the end of the day, Cam Newton didn’t solve friendship, he just reminded us that everyone sees the world through their own lens. His lens happens to be very direct and very loud.
