Cam Newton is claiming that he isn’t paid well to be on television because he is not white like Tom Brady and Tony Romo.
Cam Newton is back in the headlines. Not for a comeback. Not for a podcast fit. But for a statement that made sports TV very uncomfortable.
According to Cam, Tom Brady and Tony Romo get paid more money on television than he does because they are white. Or as Cam put it, because he is Black. Simple. Direct. No sugar added.
Wow: Cam Newton implies that he doesn't get paid the same as Tom Brady or Tony Romo on TV because he is Black.
"I think you're the only black quarterback on television."
"Can we keep it funky? I don't get no Brady deal. I don't get no Romo deal and that's just facts."

Cam didn’t whisper it either. He said it with confidence. The same confidence he used to walk into press conferences dressed like a fashion villain. He believes networks reward certain quarterbacks differently. Not for talent. Not for personality. But for skin color.

Is Cam wrong? Well, maybe! That’s the real debate. History suggests Black athletes often have to work harder for the same shine, especially once the helmet comes off.
At the end of the day, Cam said what many think but won’t say out loud. He kicked over the table and walked away.
And whether you agree or not, one thing is clear. Cam Newton doesn’t just want a seat at the table. He wants to know why the menu changes depending on who’s sitting there.
