Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, a five-time Pro Bowler, has fueled speculation about a possible trade to the San Francisco 49ers after sharing a snippet of his new rap song that references the Bay Area.
In the lyrics posted on Instagram, Crosby raps: “What can I say, the boy get paid, brand new crib in the Bay. We done touched down in the Bay like Steph and Klay.” The mentions of the Bay — home to the 49ers — and Golden State Warriors stars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have excited Niners fans, who see it as a hint toward bolstering San Francisco’s defense under coach Kyle Shanahan.

Crosby, 28, has been at the center of trade rumors since the Raiders shut him down with a knee injury at the end of the NFL season, even though he believed he could continue playing. NFL insider Jay Glazer reported during Super Bowl week that Crosby’s tenure with the Raiders was over. On Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter added that Las Vegas would seek at least two first-round draft picks and a premium player in any deal.
A former fourth-round pick out of Eastern Michigan, Crosby began his career with the Oakland Raiders before the team relocated to Las Vegas in 2020. He has described rapping as a hobby dating back to high school, but the timing of this release has amplified the buzz.
Fans from other teams, including the Chicago Bears, have also dissected Crosby’s recent podcast appearance on “The Rush,” interpreting his comments as potential signals for their squads. Crosby has not directly addressed the trade speculation or the song’s intent.
