Russell Wilson Speaks on Being in the Epstein Files

New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson on Monday forcefully rejected any connection to Jeffrey Epstein, calling reports linking him to the late financier’s private jet “absolutely not” true.

Wilson’s name surfaced in a 2019 email included in a massive trove of Epstein-related documents released by the Justice Department last week. The email, dated Jan. 27, 2019, described Wilson as eager to purchase Epstein’s Gulfstream GIV jet but concerned about publicity affecting his contract extension negotiations with the Seattle Seahawks. “Russell is asking for a way to lock up the plane until his deal is signed, could be 2 weeks, or 2 months or more,” the message read, according to excerpts shared online.

The documents do not accuse Wilson of wrongdoing or suggest involvement in Epstein’s criminal activities, which included sex trafficking of minors. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial. The latest release includes over 3 million pages, videos and images, building on prior disclosures.

Wilson, 37, who signed a four-year, $140 million extension with the Seahawks that April, addressed the report in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The post, which included prayer hands emojis, garnered more than 17,000 likes and hundreds of replies within hours.

Reactions on X were mixed, with some users defending Wilson and others expressing skepticism.

One user posted a video clip with the caption “Close call,” implying a narrow escape from association. Another wrote, “Tell em Russ! They trying to do anything to take you down again. Unbelievable,” accompanied by a GIF.

Supporters urged legal action. “Russ, you need to start suing these people for slandering your name,” one commenter said. Another added, “They are trying to get you King! Stay safe brother!”

Critics were less convinced. “The files is the files playa,” one user posted with an image. Another remarked, “Blaming Satan makes you look guilty af.” A third called the situation “Sus AF !!”

“Lmao why they tryna play with u like that Russ,” another user wrote, sharing a meme.

The report originated from a post by MLFootball, which shared images of Epstein and Wilson alongside the email details. Wilson now plays for the Giants after stints with the Seahawks, Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers. He has not commented further.

The Epstein files have named numerous high-profile figures, but many mentions reflect business dealings rather than illicit activity.
