Tua Tagovailoa is expected to leave the Miami Dolphins this offseason. The Dolphins have decided it’s time for a change following a terrible 2025 campaign.
The Dolphins fired head coach Mike McDaniel this summer and hired Jeff Haffley as coach and Jon-Eric Sullivan as general manager.
Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb have already been removed as part of their roster downsizing efforts. They haven’t finished yet, though, since Tagovailoa’s destiny will be determined next. Sullivan says Tagovailoa has every choice. At the Scouting Combine on Tuesday, Sullivan stated:
“We’re evaluating the entire roster,”
“As it pertains to Tua, we’ve had conversations with Tua and his representation.
Everything is on the table, including the potential of a trade. We don’t know which way that’s going to go.
“There’s a lot of different factors at play, a lot of conversations being had.”
Everything is up for discussion, including the possibility of a trade. We have no idea which way that will go. As of March 15, the Dolphins owe Tagovailoa $54 million in 2026, with an additional $3 million completely guaranteed for 2027.
The Dolphins would incur a $99 million cap charge if he were cut.
