Adidas Brings Back Iconic USMNT Look Ahead of 2026 World Cup

There’s something comforting about nostalgia when times are tough and times are certainly tough for many people in the United States. With just three months before the kickoff of the 2026 World Cup, sportswear giant Adidas is trying to tap into a simpler time in the world and in sports with the release of a denim collection for fans of the United States Men’s National Team.

This collection is a callback to the infamous jersey the USMNT wore when they hosted the 1994 World Cup which changed the trajectory of soccer in the country forever. The USMNT held their own in that tournament by advancing to the knockout stage in a group that contained European and South American giants Switzerland and Colombia. They would go on to lose 1-0 to eventual champions Brazil in the round of 16 but they exceeded expectations in a time when soccer was still relatively new in the US.

One of their jerseys was denim look that was perfect for the mid-90s era and is one of those cult classics that has become even more popular over the years. You can already picture US defender Alexi Lalas with his red hair and beard wearing the oversized jersey while manning the center of defense right now.

The Adidas collection does not feature the US Soccer Federation logo because they are not the official supplier of the team, as that honor belongs to Nike, but the jerseys are close enough to evoke those memories. That World Cup is known for the impetus of the launch of Major League Soccer which has grown exponentially in the years since and has attracted some of the best players in world soccer.

We previously covered the release or leak of the official kits from Nike but we have a feeling these might be just as popular as the real thing. It helps that this collection is a tad cheaper than the official kit and folks might be excited about representing a simpler time in the country and for US Soccer.
