Former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant said Tuesday that rapper Offset owes him $8,000 from a past encounter, claiming he “beat Offset out of 8k” and later tried but failed to collect the debt.
In a post on X, Bryant recounted an incident in which Offset appeared to fall asleep to avoid paying. Bryant said he tapped Offset to wake him and demand the money, but backed off when he realized he was outnumbered by Offset’s associates.
I don’t ever talk about what I do or my relationships with anyone but I’m going to give yall a quick story between me and offset.. I beat offset out of 8k he tried to take a nap on me and I go to tap on him to wake him up..telling him I need that 8k.. his patnas saw me tapping on… https://t.co/W0G6FZu4FV

“I chilled because I was by myself completely out numbered,” Bryant wrote. “So I charged it to the game.”
Bryant added that Offset reached out to him about a “money play” three hours before the rapper was shot Monday night outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Bryant said he declined the request and learned of the shooting later.
“I swear to god Offset reached out to me yesterday 3 hours before he got shot on a money play… I thought about it and said..I’m good.. then I saw the news later on and was like damn…some people don’t play about they money,” Bryant posted.
There is no confirmed connection between Bryant’s claims and the shooting, which authorities have not detailed publicly. Offset has not responded publicly to Bryant’s post.
Bryant, who played 10 NFL seasons primarily with the Dallas Cowboys and retired in 2021, has occasionally commented on entertainment and sports figures on social media. Offset, a member of the hip-hop group Migos, has faced previous public disputes involving money, including resurfaced messages Tuesday with rapper Lil Tjay over a reported $10,000 debt.
Bryant emphasized he rarely discusses personal dealings but chose to share the story in light of the timing.
The post drew significant attention online, with more than 1.8 million views shortly after it was published.
