If there is one thing Draymond Green has never been afraid of, it’s sharing an opinion. Loudly, lonfidently and sometimes with a little chaos mixed in.
This time the Atlanta Hawks found themselves in the middle of a debate after announcing a promotional event called “Magic City Night.” Yes, Magic City. The legendary Magic City strip club that has somehow become a cultural landmark in Atlanta.
Naturally, the internet reacted the way the internet always reacts. Half the people laughed, the other half grabbed their pitchforks.
Some critics felt a basketball team promoting a strip club night was a bit questionable. Others were confused, a few people probably Googled Magic City for “research purposes.”
But Draymond Green? He came in with a completely different perspective.
According to Green, stripping is actually an art form. Yes, art, like painting or dancing. Just with way more glitter and a lot more dollar bills flying around.

‘I think to point out that they have esteem issues because that’s the line of work (that the dancers) chose, I actually think is less protective of women because you’re condemning something that’s actually an art,’ he said on The Draymond Green Show.
‘I don’t know if you’ve ever been, but if you see it in action, it’s actually a form of art, that some choose to indulge in and some choose not to indulge in.
‘[Cardi B is] selling out stadiums and her background would be that. I don’t think Cardi B has esteem issues. So, I think that’s actually a negative vantage point on these women that are in this line of work; that because they choose this line of work that they have esteem issues.’
Despite the severe backlashes, the Hawks are going ahead with their plans.
The NBA franchise is set to host the event on March 16, which will celebrate Magic City, a famed Atlanta-based strip club, when they face the Orlando Magic.
The team announced the promotional night last week, billing it as a tribute to a ‘cultural institution,’ and revealing that it will feature appearances from rapper T.I., city-themed merchandise and the venue’s iconic lemon pepper chicken wings.
The announcement sparked controversy, with San Antonio Spurs center Luke Kornet leading the backlash.
Sports fans love drama almost as much as they love basketball.
So the Hawks are moving forward with Magic City Night and Draymond Green is cheering them on.
And somewhere in Atlanta, a DJ is probably already preparing the playlist, because if stripping is art, apparently the NBA just scheduled an exhibition.
