De’Von Achane and the team have signed a massive new contract. On Wednesday, the 24-year-old running back signed a four-year contract extension at Hard Rock Stadium.
Achane’s new deal is worth $64million, with $32m in guaranteed money. The former Texas A&M standout is now ranked third on the NFL rusher salary table, behind Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley.
In 2023, Miami selected Achane in the third round of the draft. And as they embark on a rebuild, the team want to build around one of their most impressive offensive stars.
Despite the Dolphins’ recent troubles, Achane has been a bright spot on offense. In 2025, he gained 12 touchdowns while rushing for a career-high 1,350 yards on 238 carries.
The Texas native made it to the Pro Bowl for the first time and led the league in yards per carry (5.7). Under Hafley, the Dolphins are getting ready for a daring new chapter. Miami hasn’t advanced past the postseason Wildcard stage since 2000 and has had consecutive losing NFL seasons.
During the offseason, they let go of veteran quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as well as receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. In the NFL Draft held last month, the Dolphins were aggressive in selecting players for all three position areas.
Pittsburgh added linebackers Kyle Louis and Jacob Rodriguez.
