Caitlin Clark is back after a heated exchange with a referee.
She did, in fact, make her WNBA comeback last Saturday, scoring 20 points in the Fever’s 107–104 loss to the Wings. However, in Indiana’s 87-78 victory over the Sparks on Wednesday, she displayed a true Caitlin Clark effort, scoring 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting with nine assists, two steals, and a block.
Naturally, though, Clark doesn’t truly return until she has a disagreement with authorities. That occurred on Wednesday night at Crypto.com Arena during the first half when the horn blew.
Clark approached referee Jason Alabanza as she made her way to the Fever’s locker room. She clapped in his face and said something to him. Without hesitating, Alabanza issued her a technical foul. It was the ninth technical foul of her career and her first of the year.

To begin the second half, Sparks guard Kelsey Plum drained a technical free throw. The Fever won by nine points to improve to 1-1 on the season, therefore that moment had little effect on the outcome of the game.
Rarely one to hold back when criticizing the refereeing, Clark changed her tone in her postgame interview after the final horn blew, allowing her coach Stephanie White to speak.
