Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested Tuesday and faces five charges in connection with an alleged domestic disturbance that occurred over the weekend.
Jacobs, 28, was booked into Brown County Jail on charges of battery-domestic abuse, criminal damage to property-domestic abuse, disorderly conduct-domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim, according to the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department.
Police said officers were dispatched to a disturbance complaint involving Jacobs at approximately 8:37 a.m. on Saturday, May 23. Jacobs was arrested three days later following an investigation. Authorities have not released additional details about the alleged incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Jacobs has denied the charges through his attorneys, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Packers acknowledged the legal matter but declined further comment.
The timing of the arrest comes as the team prepares for organized team activities. Jacobs signed a significant contract with Green Bay after leaving the Las Vegas Raiders and has been a central part of the Packers’ offensive plans in recent seasons.
The NFL’s personal conduct policy allows the league to take disciplinary action, including potential suspension, depending on the outcome of the case.
