In a recent video, Beyonce Knowles-Carter shared behind-the-scenes family moments and revealed her husband Jay-Z’s hair makeover.

In a video released on June 21 by the hair care company Ceïcred, the Grammy-winning musician provided a deeper look at Jay-Z’s hair journey as he combed out his distinctive dreadlocks with the assistance of family members.

The 7-minute film, “The Blueprint,” which is narrated by Beyoncé and pays homage to Jay-Z’s 2001 album, explains to fans why the rapper grew out his hair eight years ago and why he just made the decision to remove his wicks, or big locs.

At the start of the video, Beyoncé stated:

“Everyone wants to know the details of Jay’s hair transformation. Jay told me a few months ago he was planning on combing out his locs for the Philly show with The Roots. He wanted to do this in honor of his father,”

After more than eight years of preparation, Beyonce claimed that at first she wasn’t sure he would be able to comb out his locs. But, she clarified, the whole family honored his locs while providing him with loving assistance over the course of several days.

According to Beyoncé, Jay-Z started growing locs to demonstrate to their 14-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter that their hair types were comparable. Beyonce claims that when Blue Ivy was about five years old, she struggled with self-confidence regarding her hair. Jay-Z was inspired to embrace his natural texture and urged her to follow suit.
