Former NFL player Brandon Marshall has found himself getting absolutely cooked on social media after posting one of his unique parenting methods.
And by “unique,” we mean something that sounds like it was borrowed from a military boot camp directed by a fitness influencer who drank three energy drinks before bedtime.
Marshall recently shared a video of his son running at 2 a.m. while he drives alongside him. Yes, 2 a.m.
Two in the morning, when most kids are asleep and dreaming about video games, pizza, or not being forced into an impromptu marathon.

Marshall defended the practice by saying:
“Discipline correction is good. Even 2 in the morning, we run. I’m training you up to be a warrior.”
During the video, Marshall is heard saying, “It’s no different than when we were in LA, Santa Monica, running at midnight on the pier.
“We wanted to do that; we love to do that.”
“I’m training you to be a leader, to serve, to have discipline. To be better than me.”
Marshall is behind the camera, driving his car alongside his son, while shouting out the window at him.
He continued, “If you don’t start running, we’re gonna go three miles, so you better start running.
“You should be going at 8 or 9 miles per hour right now.
“If this truck don’t get to nine miles per hour, I promise you, we’re going all the way to the gas station, which is three miles down and back…
“There we go. Now we moving.”
The internet immediately had questions.
One fan wrote, “I don’t know about discipline, but definitely gave him something to unpack in therapy in 20 years.”
Another commented, “You should NEVER discipline a child with embarrassment it messes up their mental health state. Kids are people too.
“It didn’t need to be public if this is how you wanted to discipline that’s fine. You did this to show off on the internet. I hope you take this down.”
But some fans enjoyed the video, with one saying, “Our job is to build men, not boys.”
Another remarked, “Y’all acting like this is hurting HIS SON. He’s teaching. Correcting behaviors before the streets do.”
Whether you see Marshall’s method as tough love or over-the-top parenting, one thing is certain: the next time his son hears footsteps outside his bedroom at 2 a.m., he’s probably not thinking, “Dad wants to talk.”
He’s thinking, “Oh no. Not leg day again.”
