Just when fans thought Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Knicks and Spurs couldn’t get any louder, Cardi B grabbed a microphone and reminded everyone that Madison Square Garden is basically her second living room.
The superstar rolled into the building like she owned the place and delivered a halftime performance that had Knicks fans screaming almost as loudly as they were during the game itself.
Representing New York with maximum energy, Cardi kicked things off with “Bodega Baddie,” one of the standout tracks from her latest album, Am I the Drama? The performance looked less like a halftime show and more like a giant New York block party that somehow ended up in the middle of the NBA Finals.
Surrounded by dancers rocking orange Knicks jersey dresses, Cardi made her way to center court while her floor-length hair flowed dramatically behind her. Whoever was controlling the wind machines deserves a championship ring too because the hair was putting up MVP numbers.
Of course, Cardi wasn’t about to leave the stage without giving fans what they really wanted.

After getting the crowd warmed up, she launched into “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),” the song that turned her from internet personality into global superstar back in 2017.

Once she wrapped up her three-minute-plus set, Cardi settled into courtside seats underneath the basket with her 4-year-old son Wave for the second half. In one of a series of Instagram Stories posted from her seats, Cardi panned her phone camera over to the adjacent Spurs bench and quipped, “They got me right next to the opps! But I’mma be nice, ’cause I know this is a lot for them.”
Unfortunately, fans at home didn’t get to catch Cardi’s performance on the ABC broadcast, with only a sound-free video snippet playing as commentator Charles Barkley cracked jokes about the rapper’s revealing outfit. “I don’t know if those B’s. They might be Cardi D’s,” Barkley said to laughter from the rest of the panel. “I’m pretty sure those aren’t B’s. … She got the wrong initials.”
TThe Knicks and Spurs were battling for a championship, but Cardi B showed up determined to win halftime.

And judging by the reaction inside Madison Square Garden, she wasn’t leaving without the trophy.
