In Argentina, the teacher jumps to his death from the cockpit, forcing the 22-year-old student pilot to land her aircraft by herself.
During their flight in Argentina, a student pilot’s teacher “jumped” from the aircraft, forcing her to land by herself.
When her teacher, 42-year-old Leandro Bertazzo, evacuated the Cessna C-150, the 22-year-old was training with him.
The student, who is said to have a pilot’s license but little flying hours under her belt, has stated he opened the plane’s window and jumped, despite the fact that officials are investigating the cause of his unexpected death.
She was able to safely and independently land the Cessna C-150 at Coronel Olmedo Airport, where they took off, and notify authorities of the emergency while witnessing Mr. Bertazzo drop to his death.
Twenty minutes later, Mr. Bertazzo, who identified himself online as a former commercial pilot in Chile, was discovered dead in a field near the spot the woman said he might have fallen.
The director of the aviation school Flying Parrot Cordoba, where Leandro had taught for four years, Eduardo Alvarez described his exchange with the young pupil who claimed to have “jumped.”
He told Argentine media that Leandro once instructed her, “You know what to do, keep moving forward.”
‘He took his headphones off, arranged his belongings including his mobile phone, took his seatbelt off, opened the door which is very difficult to open and jumped out.”
“He took this tragic decision on board a plane with a person by his side,” he continued, describing Leandro as a man who was “always smiling” and acknowledging that no one had thought he was about to make such a dramatic decision. The human mind is so intricate and cunning that it is impossible to consider or comprehend. That’s the reason for what transpired.
The strange accident, which occurred on Saturday afternoon close to the small town of Toledo in the Argentine province of Cordoba, is still being investigated.
