Anthony Edwards Jokes That He and LaMelo Ball Must “Cut Our Cussing Back”

Two basketball players hug on the court during a game or warm‑up, one in a blue jersey with the number 7 and the other in a gray sweatshirt, both facing each other.

The star of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards, joked on Friday that since they both play for the same team, he and LaMelo Ball are already trying to improve the language they use in interviews.

At Fanatics Fest in New York City on Friday, Edwards stated:

“You mentioned the postgame interview— we already were talking about it, where we’ve got to cut our cussing back, be a little bit more professional,”

“We’re trying to get it together before they get on us.”

In June, the Charlotte Hornets traded Ball to the Timberwolves for a package that included Naz Reid and a first-round selection in 2033.

After the Hornets’ play-in victory against the Miami Heat in April, Ball used what the NBA deemed to be vulgar language during a live postgame interview, earning him a $25,000 fine.

After an interview after a game in November 2024, Ball received the most expensive punishment of his career—a $100,000 fine.

The NBA fined Edwards $50,000 for remarks he made following Game 1 of the 2025 Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. This was Edwards’ most recent infraction.

The Wolves player paid a $100,000 fine for remarks he made during a December 2024 on-court interview. He has been fined numerous times for using foul language on social media and during games, as well as for publicly criticizing NBA refereeing.
