Nikola Jokić Wants to Be In the Nuggets Team “Forever”

On Monday, Nikola Jokić reaffirmed his desire to spend the remainder of his career with the Denver Nuggets. However, he want to wait until next summer to sign his contract extension.

After leading Serbia to victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina in a FIBA World Cup qualification match in Belgrade, Serbia, the three-time Kia NBA MVP addressed reporters.

Jokić ended with 10 rebounds, 11 assists, and 20 points. Then he reiterated that he wanted to stay in the Mile High City. Jokić can sign a five-year supermax contract worth about $350 million if he waits until next summer.

The 31-year-old Jokić just finished his sixth All-NBA season. He finished second in the MVP voting to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Oklahoma City, averaging 27.7 points, a league-high 12.9 rebounds, and a league-high 10.7 assists.

Minnesota eliminated Jokić and the Nuggets in the opening round of the playoffs. Jokić declared, “I still want to be (with the) Nuggets forever,” following another early round elimination.

The Nuggets have had a quiet offseason thus far. What to do with Peyton Watson, the dynamic guard/forward who will demand a large salary to stay in town, is a major choice the organization must make.
