When it comes to the Chicago Sky and Skylar Diggins, nothing is ever boring. When the Sky signed Skylar Diggins to a two-year contract in free agency, explosions appeared inevitable for a dysfunctional team.
Diggins, a six-time All-WNBA pick and seven-time All-Star, is probably as well-known for her bold demeanor as for her exceptional skill set. Diggins, who disclosed on Monday that she has been benched since her rookie season, back in 2013, is at the heart of a new controversy going into Tuesday night’s game against the Phoenix Mercury.
In a video that was uploaded to Instagram Stories on Monday, Diggins stated:
“The crazy part about it all is I’ve been so quiet,” “I’ve been so good and quiet.”
“I’ve been putting my body on the line all year for this team. I’ve done everything that’s been asked of me,” “I’ve been great professionally, that’s the decision that’s made, and I gotta live with that.”
Although Sky head coach Tyler Marsh has simply stated that the impending move is a “coach’s decision,” it is obvious that Marsh had to take action to stop Chicago’s decline in the standings.
The Sky have lost 14 of their last 18 games following a 2-0 start. Angel Reese is long gone after an offseason deal that led to the roster revamp, while rising star Rickea Jackson is sidelined for the season due to a ruptured ACL.
