At the ESPYs, Mike Tyson had his entire world turned upside down when he discovered in real time that Major League Baseball’s biggest talent, Shohei Ohtani, is a male.
At the event on Wednesday, Iron Mike, Jake Paul, and DJ Khaled presented the award for greatest single-game performance. Tyson’s mouth dropped as El Gallo claimed the Dodgers slugger expressed “his gratitude and appreciation” for the victory.

Tyson is heard on the hot mic questioning his former boxing opponent if Sho-Time was truly a male just before the audience applauded Ohtani, who was not present for the ceremony. Is Shohei a man? When Tyson asked Paul, he nodded and seemed to answer “yes.”
It would seem that Ohtani would have heard a few things at some point in his career. Regarding the award, Ohtani was recognized for his performance in Game 4 of the 2025 NLCS, which garnered international notice as he struck out ten batters and hit three home runs.
