Jayden Daniels Gets His Shoulder Dislocated on Field

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow during the team’s 37-20 defeat to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, but coach Dan Quinn mentioned that X-rays revealed no fractures. Daniels will have additional imaging tests on Monday.

Quinn expressed optimism about Daniels’ potential return this season, stating, “I haven’t had any reason to think otherwise.”

As Daniels took the snap on a third-and-goal from the 1-yard line on the last play of the first half, his feet seemed to be stepped on by left guard Chris Paul. As he began to fall, Daniels attempted to catch himself with his left hand, causing his elbow to bend awkwardly.

Medical staff attended to him while he was surrounded by numerous teammates and coaches, including Quinn.

In a quiet locker room, Terry McLaurin remarked:

“It took the air out of us a little bit”. “Just trying to score before half, and he went down. We know we had to get back in the locker room to make our adjustments, but no one wanted to leave the field. That’s our brother.”

Quinn expressed that he had no regrets about choosing to go for it instead of attempting a field goal in that moment. He mentioned that they aimed to be aggressive, considering the offensive strength that Dallas brought to the field. However, Daniels’ teammates were not focused on the play call, but rather on the injury.

After the game, Daniels emerged from the locker room with his left arm in a sling and made his way to where family and friends were waiting. He shared hugs with a few of them before departing. According to his teammates, Daniels reassured some of them after the game, telling them he’s alright.

Daniels had dislocated his left elbow last season in Week 9 during a game against Seattle.
