Jerry Jones has once again reminded everyone that when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, he never really stops thinking about the next big move.
The Cowboys improved to 1-1 on Sunday after cruising past the rival Washington Commanders, 37-20. It was a convincing home win. It was also the kind of performance that gets fans excited and Cowboys Twitter extremely loud.
But after the game, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones delivered a quote that got people talking.
Apparently, winning a football game is not enough drama for Dallas.

Jones dropped an interesting line that left some members of the NFL community wondering whether he could have a move brewing before the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
“Nothing more dangerous than an old man with money,” Jones told a group of reporters, per Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “Y’all hear? That’s my quote of the day.”
Jones did not exactly announce that Dallas was making a trade. He simply offered a comment that sounded intriguing enough to make people wonder.
And that is how the NFL rumor machine works.
Throughout the offseason, Jones signed off on numerous roster additions that were intended to bolster a defense that often let the Dallas offense down during the 2025 season. In August, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott made it known that “this is as urgent as I’ve ever felt Jerry” regarding the club’s pursuit of a trip to the Super Bowl.
Dallas hasn’t played in an NFC Championship Game since the NFC East club won the Super Bowl in January 1996.
One sentence from a team executive can turn into 47 theories before dinner.
The Cowboys certainly have reasons to feel encouraged after Sunday’s win. Dallas scored 37 points against Washington and looked much more comfortable than it did during the season-opening loss.
The offense found its rhythm, the defense made plays, and the Cowboys looked like a team that had something to prove.
Still, one victory does not magically solve every problem. That is where the trade deadline comes into the conversation.
Jones has never been shy about making moves when he believes they can help the Cowboys. Whether Dallas actually makes a major addition this time remains unknown.
He says something interesting, fans start dreaming, social media goes completely wild, and then everyone waits for the next headline.
