Joy Taylor has opened up about one of those relationship stories that makes you stare at the wall and ask, “Wait, you did all that for him?”
The sports media personality recently reflected on an ex-boyfriend who allegedly cheated on her with an exotic dancer. The kicker? Taylor said she was financially taking care of him at the time.
Talk about an expensive heartbreak.

Taylor appeared on the September 3 episode of the podcast Get to the Point. During the conversation, she admitted that many people probably “wouldn’t believe” she financially supported a man who eventually cheated on her.
“I was financially supporting a boyfriend, and he’s on the couch like playing video games and stuff, like it’s been going on for like a month now. ‘Cause I was like, “Don’t worry about it, I got the bills, blah, blah, blah, blah.”
What did I get for that? I’m like, “All right, look. it’s been a while, like, we got to get a job, you know.” So, here’s some money, go get a drink, like, clear your head. Right? Tomorrow…
He goes out and cheats on me with a stripper with the money that I gave him.”
Taylor then realized that her now-ex was attempting to get her to confront the stripper. “I’m living wrong. I have reinforced this behavior. It’s absolutely crazy. You got it. And I left him one broom because we had two brooms,” she continued. “So, I took everything and left. It was all my shit anyway because obviously I was paying for everything.”
Taylor’s experience may be painful, but sharing it also gives others something to think about.
If you are carrying the relationship financially, emotionally and practically while your partner is contributing little more than video-game noise from the couch, it might be time for a serious conversation, because nobody wants to discover they were the sponsor of their own heartbreak.
