Michael Irvin has apparently decided that Justin Herbert needs a new kind of drive.
And no, he was not talking about the kind that starts at your own 20-yard line.
Following the Los Angeles Chargers’ frustrating 26-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, Irvin took a hilarious shot at Herbert by suggesting the quarterback is focused on the “wrong drive.”
The Playmaker referring to Herbert’s relationship with Madison Beer.
That is one way to make a bad Sunday even more uncomfortable.
The Chargers entered the game with plenty of expectations. Herbert is supposed to be the player who can lead this team when things get serious.
Instead, Los Angeles walked away with just 14 points.
The Raiders walked away with the win, and Irvin walked away with the perfect opportunity to troll.
His “wrong drive” comment immediately created a talking point around Herbert. The joke was simple but the timing was brutal, because when your team loses 26-14, nobody really wants to hear about the wrong drive.

They want to know where the offense went.
When the Chargers win, Herbert gets praised for his arm talent and playmaking ability. When they lose, suddenly everyone becomes a quarterback expert.
Somewhere, there is probably a fan watching the game from his couch while explaining exactly how he would fix the Chargers.
He has never coached football, but he is very confident.
Irvin simply added his own flavor to the conversation.
The NFL legend is known for making bold comments, so nobody should be shocked that he found a way to turn a disappointing Chargers performance into a punchline.
And honestly, the “drive” joke was almost too easy.
Football is full of drives: good drives, bad drives, touchdown drives.
And, according to Irvin, apparently the wrong kind of drive.
For Herbert, the bigger issue is what happens next.
One loss does not define an entire season, but the Chargers cannot afford to keep wasting opportunities if they want to compete at a high level.
