Ryan Garcia may have just given boxing fans another reason to start arguing on the internet. The young boxing star has announced that he is set to fight Floyd Mayweather amid growing rumors about a potential showdown between the two.
And naturally, the boxing world is paying attention.
Trust me at first I thought this was bull***
But it’s real Floyd and I agree to a fight

Apparently, regular boxing matches are no longer enough. Now we need superstar names, massive egos, social media announcements, and enough trash talk to fill an entire season of reality television.

“Trust me at first I thought this was bull***,” Garcia wrote on social media. “But it’s real. Floyd and I agree to a fight 147 for the WBC welterweight championship of the world. 50-0 vs The current champ.”
“Just got off the phone with (Mayweather),” he said. “Talking about fighting – it’s real and he wants to do a real fight 147. He and I both agreed to post this! Let’s Rumble. This will be for the 147 WBC world championship I made that very clear and Floyd and I agreed to fight.”
Garcia has built a reputation as one of boxing’s most recognizable young fighters, and then there is Mayweather: the undefeated boxing legend!
According to Uncrowned’s Darshan Desai, there have been “no serious negotiations” about the fight yet, but it seems the two have at least made a verbal agreement.
Talks of a potential fight began earlier this month, when Garcia confirmed it was in the works.
Garcia clarified from the jump that he wasn’t willing to fight Mayweather in an exhibition.
“And no I wouldn’t do an exhibition I want his 0 on the f–king line,” he wrote on social media. “How much does he actually think he got left. I’m ready Floyd, remember you made this call. I’m just returning the favor. Offer is on the table. Accept or not, if not I move foward as I have been.”
And let us be honest, boxing fans love a good matchup almost as much as they love arguing about who would win.
Okay Floyd let’s see how much you love that “0”🤔😤 https://t.co/KRteHTfyxJ

For now, the announcement has created plenty of excitement. The next step is turning the talk into an officially confirmed event.
If the fight happens, expect plenty of promotion, bold predictions, and social media arguments, because in modern boxing, the punches may happen in the ring, but the noise starts long before fight night.
