Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe Finally Opens Up On Why ‘Undisputed’ Ended

For years, the ending of Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe’s partnership on “Undisputed” has felt like one of those sports mysteries nobody could fully explain.

Now, more details are finally coming out.

Bayless and Sharpe recently discussed the messy ending during an appearance on “Club Shay Shay.” And apparently, there was more to the story than two loud sports personalities simply deciding they could no longer share a television desk.

Skip Bayless: “I think that the people upstairs, going all the way to the top, were more impacted that kind of clash than you and I were. Like everybody else in this world, they were prisoners of internet overreaction.

“The internet decided that was the end of Undisputed as we knew and loved it. It felt like, from that moment on, our clock was ticking, and they just decided, ‘We need to go in a different direction.’

“But all the way to the bitter end, when we started counting down days to what I was told was your last day.

“And then, maybe three days before your last day, I came to your dressing room, and we went back and forth. You said, ‘Hey, I don’t want to leave,’ and I’m like, ‘You don’t?’”

That is a major revelation because fans had spent years connecting his departure to the highly publicized fallout between the two men.

And honestly, who could blame them?

Shannon Sharpe: “They didn’t give me much choice in the matter. To be honest, and this is something that I never shared, they said, ‘This is over.’ I’m not finna argue with you and fight with you if you don’t think I’m good enough to do the job.”

Bayless: “Then you told me in your dressing room that you absolutely did not want to leave. If, in fact, we could revitalise from that point forward, you said, ‘Hey, I’d be good to stay.’”

Sharpe: “Just let me have the podcast. They said, ‘Let us think about it.’ I’m going to my attorney’s office. When I got there, there was a fax already coming through with my termination.”

Bayless and Sharpe may have disagreed about plenty of things on “Undisputed.”

But apparently, the biggest disagreement was happening behind the scenes.

And unlike their television arguments, there was no commercial break to save the situation.
