Deion Sanders has apparently decided it is time to shake things up in Colorado.
Coach Prime made headlines after benching Julian Lewis and turning to Isaac Wilson at quarterback. And because this is college football, changing quarterbacks is never just changing quarterbacks, it becomes a full-blown national discussion.
Sanders has now spoken about the decision, and there is one detail that immediately caught attention.
He has talked to Wilson but has not talked to Lewis.
Coach Prime says he hasn’t talked to Julian Lewis but has talked to Isaac Wilson:

Sanders said he has communicated with Wilson and described the young quarterback as being excited about the possibilities ahead. That sounds like Wilson has plenty of reasons to smile right now.
“The kid is excited about the possibilities”
Lewis, meanwhile, is apparently waiting for his turn to hear directly from Coach Prime.
Nothing says “fun locker room” quite like finding out about a major football decision while everyone else is already discussing it.
“It’s not an in-the-moment change,” he said. “That’s obviously when you’ve sat down with the coaches, you’ve sat down with the quarterbacks. They know the deal. They know the timing. It’s not that you are just doing that blindly. Everyone involved in the house knows what time it is. Maybe everybody outside knows.”
Julian Lewis has managed only 365 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions across Colorado’s three games against FBS teams. The Buffs scored just 34 points in those contests. That is the number Deion Sanders appears to care about most, not feelings or reputation.
“I’m not emotional,” he said. “I don’t make decisions based on emotions.”
Sanders is backing Wilson and saying the quarterback is excited about what comes next.
Lewis, meanwhile, may have a few questions of his own.
And judging by the latest developments, Colorado’s quarterback room just became a lot more interesting.
Grab the popcorn. Coach Prime has another quarterback storyline cooking.
